Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin
by W. LaBier Jones

The Mausoleum of the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221 - 206 b.c.) was discovered early in 1974 by local farmers sinking a well. The buried terracotta army of an estimated 8,000 life-size soldiers and horses arrayed in military formation is often referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world." This mausoleum is the largest ever uncovered in the world and reflects the depth of creativity and skill in the long history of sculptural arts in China..
