The purpose of the NSS is to promote excellence in figurative and realist sculpture throughout the United States, to which end its programs are directed. NSS is a not-for-profit organization whose membership numbers about 4,000, and includes some of the world's finest sculptors, architects, art historians, conservators, and other allied professionals. |

The first sculpture exhibition in the United States was staged by NSS in 1895. Today, an exhibition schedule in the Park Avenue Atrium in New York, NY provide a venue for the public to view some of the best contemporary figurative sculpture in the country. The Park Avenue Atrium is a permanent showcase for exhibitions by the Society. The Society's quarterly publication, Sculpture Review, is devoted to figurative sculpture and is available on newsstands, through membership, and by subscription. NSS provides educational scholarships, and is a cosponsor of the National Sculpture Competition for young sculptors. NSS also sponsors the Ettl Grant and other prizes and awards which recognize and encourage sculptors and the creation of good sculpture. Click here to read more about us. The NSS Library is open to the public by appointment. NSS maintains source material of America's most important sculptors, past and present.
